Out at School-Audio Play

Out at School is a multimedia verbatim theatre piece based on interviews with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) families about their experiences in Ontario elementary and secondary schools.
The 2021 Audio-Play includes performances by Alec Butler, Amaka Umeh, Brendan Chandler, Jorie Morrow, Max Cameron Fearon, Ryan Singh, Tsholo Khalema, and the LGBTQ Families Speak Out Research team.

Out at School, is a multimedia verbatim theatre piece based on interviews with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) families about their experiences in Ontario elementary and secondary schools. The 2019 Pride performances included 22 scenes of verbatim monologues and dialogues, a set of visual images to accompany the scenes, and three original songs which drew upon the words of the people who were interviewed.

What really fascinated me was how this play was a product of the intersection between scholarship and creativity: a product of Goldstein’s own academic pursuits but expressed in a way that is easily digestible by anybody.
